On June 9, 2026, Anthropic released its first Mythos-class model to the general public. Claude Fable 5 is a version of the company's most powerful AI — previously deemed too risky for broad release — with new safety controls that route certain sensitive queries to the older Claude Opus 4.8. What is Claude Fable 5?

Claude Fable 5 is Anthropic's first publicly available Mythos-class model. The pricing story has a critical wrinkle for subscription users. Anthropic is including Fable 5 in Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans at no extra cost through June 22, 2026. After that date, Fable 5 shifts to a usage-credit model.
